Job Description

Nature and Level of Work:

Technical work with specialty of industrial process and utility communications networks.

Basic Function and responsibility:

Provide technical support for the utility process control network and associated control systems used for producing and delivering MU with reliable, cost-effective utility services and building automation.

Characteristic Duties:

Document the process control network and associated control systems hardware and software.

Conduct routine software and firmware audits of associated process control systems. Implement updates and patches to maintain reliability and mitigate cyber security risks.

Implement, coordinate and maintain data management systems and interfaces, used to provide process control data to department staff. Ensure reliability of data management for effective monitoring and optimization of process control systems.

Provide technical support and assistance on the installation, expansion, and upgrades of the process controls systems, including Archestra Wonderware, Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation, Johnson Controls Metasys, OSIsoft PI, and other platforms.

Provide technical support and assistance on the installation, expansion, and upgrades of the process control network infrastructure. Including network devices, fiber optic and copper cabling.

Coordinate activities and operation with department control technicians and engineers, overseeing the maintenance of the various process control systems.

Provide support, functional tasks, projects and coordination of the department controls technicians and student employees as needed.

Develop and maintain scripts, complicated logic and programming required to enhance the operation.

Provide technical support for the 24/7 operation of the departments process control networks and systems by being available to work planned and emergency overtime, and occasional standby.

Shift

7:30AM - 4:00 PM

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

A two year associate degree in process controls and associated network systems or equivalent amount of education and work experience is required.

Two to five years of experience with process controls networks and systems is required, with a preference of prior experience in utility related process controls.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience and knowledge of one or more of the following process control platforms is a plus: Rockwell Automation, Emerson DeltaV, Archestra Wonderware, Johnson Controls Metasys and OSIsoft PI.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Grade: GGS 10
